Let’s read what they tried to silence.
YWCA Mankato is launching a powerful new space for courageous readers and critical thinkers ... the Adult Banned Books Club.
Join us as we explore some of the most challenged books in America and perhaps engage in rich conversation about censorship, equity, and the transformative power of storytelling.
WINTER LINEUP:
January 12 — All American Boys by Jason Reynolds
February 9 — The Color Purple by Alice Walker
March 9 — The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
April 13 — The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
We’ll meet monthly from 6–8 PM at YWCA Mankato, with each session focused on a book that has faced bans or challenges across the country.
While participation in all four sessions is strongly encouraged, attendees are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they would like.
