Let’s read what they tried to silence.
YWCA Mankato is launching a powerful new space for courageous readers and critical thinkers ... the Adult Banned Books Club.
Join us this fall as we explore some of the most challenged books in America and perhaps engage in rich conversation about censorship, equity, and the transformative power of storytelling.
FALL LINEUP:
September 22 — The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (first half)
October 20 — The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (second half)
November 17 — Beloved by Toni Morrison (first half)
December 15 — Beloved by Toni Morrison (second half)
We’ll meet monthly from 6–8 PM at YWCA Mankato, with each session focused on a book that has faced bans or challenges across the country.
While participation in all four sessions is strongly encouraged, attendees are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they would like.
Contact Hayley Goddard, Adult & Youth Programs Manager, with any questions at hayley@ywcamankato.org.
